ABC recording
As publicity for our up coming concert on 23 September, we had arranged a radio spot on ABC 702 BL radio. The show went out at about 9:30pm. We had to record our session with the presenter at 2:45pm. 22 of us turned up and crowded into a very tiny recording studio smaller than my room. We did two pieces and a bit of chat. First Autumn Leaves and then our party piece ‘What shall we do with the Drunken Sailor’.
A bit of a learning experience for this little duck. We sang fairly well (I think) but what went to air sounded fairly ordinary, chaotic and dull. I think we made too much noise for the little studio and we were toned right down. The mix they put out, for some reason, emphasized the basses and hushed up the tenors. Disappointing.
(That’s me, second from the right.)
